Thenature of workforce has gradually changed as employees havesubdivided themselves into groups according to how they are absorbedinto the organizations as well as their skills. One of thesecategories includes the Z class employees, which consists ofpre-teens who are still studying and new to the workforce (OfficePrinciples, 2013).Then, the Y generation workers contain millennials who have vastknowledge on technology advancements.Subsequently, theX group includes employees ranging from 34 to 46 years. This categoryis further subdivided into the boomers class who are between the ageof 47 and 65. Lastly, there is the traditional group consisting ofemployees who are almost retiring (OfficePrinciples, 2013).

Today’schanging business environment shows that information has become anintegral part of most jobs. Therefore, this suggests that the currentwork should be designed for the workers in Generation Y because theyhave a better understanding of technology as compared to the oldergenerations (OfficePrinciples, 2013).Moreover, they are quick learners and can adequately multitaskwithout compromising the quality of their work. However, the youngeremployees seek advice from the baby boomers to acquire moreexperience and improve performance. The shift in the workforce hasbalanced the relevance of the different people thus, creatingequality (OfficePrinciples, 2013).

Onthe other hand, the dynamics of technology have also been graduallychanging. Initially, businesses were using telex machines but latershifted to faxing. Then, emailing took over, but it is being pushedaside as the younger employees prefer texting, instant messaging, andsocial networking (OfficePrinciples, 2013).Thus, the Generation Y seems better suited to cope with the advancingtechnology. Besides, statistics show that 75 percent of allmillennials have active social networking profiles. Thetechnological changes haveallowed workers to be quicker, more dynamic, and productive (OfficePrinciples, 2013).

However,the changing nature of workforce and technology will eliminate therole of outsourcing in the future. The small companies have acquireda platform through which they can compete with other businesses usingthe social networking sites (OfficePrinciples, 2013).Furthermore, the new technology has redefined how small businessescan manage their applications and infrastructure through cloudtechnologies. Thus, these companies can save costs withoutoutsourcing to larger firms (OfficePrinciples, 2013).

Lastly,every employer needs to be updated on issues relating to the changingtechnology and employees’ diversity to keep up with the competingnature of the workforce today.Therefore, the organizationsshould come up with innovative strategies to create a modern andfriendly work environment.
