Topic:The challenges posed by inaccessible HUD programs to the seniorcitizens in Denver/Aurora area.

WorkingThesis: Housing issues affect all segments of the society, fromchildren to the older people. Notably, the availability of affordablehousing in the Aurora area is increasingly becoming insufficient. Inthe next fifteen years, the number of baby boomers is expected todouble up to 73 million which will pose a challenge of the limitedsupply of new homes and condos. After retirement, many of these oldpersons go through a hard time since they get into retirement withlittle savings. The Aurora area faces a lack of affordable houses,physically accessible features and well-located homes for the agingpopulation especially the low-income seniors. If no steps are takento reduce the cases of unaffordable housing, the low-income seniorswill be forced to compromise their well-being by precedingnecessities such as food, transportation and health services.According to a Harvard study, home prices are going up, but incomesfor seniors are not changing. Federal state and local governments areputting on efforts to improve the lives of the older citizens with,the younger citizens being challenged to work and help take care andsustain their older family members. Ostensibly, more attention needsto be directed to solving the housing problem in the Denver/Auroraarea.
