Thestudy focused on establishing the key factors that enable black mento succeed in different aspects of college and university. Unlikeother popular studies that looked into factors that inhibited thesuccess of black male in regards to college and university contexts,this study highlights the policies, programs, persons and resourcesthat help black men succeed in different college and universityaspects. The study concentrated on 219 black men who were successfulin college and university contexts as the primary group. The areas ofconcern for their success included leadership, gaining admission intothe institutions and the manner in which they became competitive ingaining scholarships and internships (Harper, 2012).
Thestudy is Non-Experimental. This is because there is no manipulationof any independent variable or controlling of any condition inregards to this particular study (Tuckman et al., 2012). Instead, thestudy relies on observation, interaction, and interpretation toarrive at a conclusion in regards to what aspects make men succeed indifferent college and university contexts. The article falls into thecategory mainly because it involves social research and marketresearch.
Thisis a descriptive study because the study involves observation,describing and documenting the aspects that make black males succeedin college and university contexts without manipulating orcontrolling anything (Vaismoradi et al., 2013). Usually, for thedescriptive study, it involves articles that seek to get moreinformation regarding different phenomena as they occur naturally.
Thestudy is a cross-sectional study because the researcher collects dataat one time from the students to explain what makes black malessuccessful in colleges and universities (Wahyuni, 2012). The use ofcross-sectional study is often necessitated by the ease andconvenience of use.
Thesample size is related to statistical tests because the sample sizedetermines the statistical significance and output. The study infersthat small sample size might not give the reflective outcome. It isimportant to plan the sample size before collecting data because ofthe resources available for data collection and the expectedprecision.
